Northwestern's MSES program is a 10-month, cohort-based program that combines academic rigor with real-world experience. This program prepares students for leadership roles at the complex intersection of technology, business, and public policy in energy and sustainability.
Applications are currently being accepted for the 2027-2028 cohort that begins in September 2027.

One of the highlights of the MSES is a capstone practicum project, which is a 10-week team consulting project for a corporate, non-profit, or municipal client. The video below showcases 2026 practicum projects.
Receive a $300 Solar Training Credit from HeatSpring
Green Jobs Network is collaborating with HeatSpring to expand access to career education and training opportunities.
Founded in 2007, HeatSpring is an online education and training platform for careers in clean energy and sustainability. HeatSpring offers more than 300 courses (including more than 150 free courses) and they are a leading provider of clean energy certifications like NABCEP, OSHA, FAA and others.
The first initiative in this collaboration will focus on supporting job seekers who are interested in careers in the solar industry.
- To start, you can explore solar career options by enrolling in HeatSpring’s FREE Solar Career Pathways course. You can view a summary of this course in the video above and click here to sign-up for the course.
- Once you’ve completed the course, send an email to laurejeanne@heatspring.com with the subject line “$300 Training Credit” and you’ll receive a $300 credit toward HeatSpring’s popular Solar Onboarding 101 course!
